A handful of people have signed up for a paid subscription (thank you), and I’ve been thinking a lot about what you might want in return, and what would help people most. So here’s a thread, for those who already have and those who might be interested and those who aren’t at all but just have opinions: What kind of “premium” content would you be interested in?
As Chris says, we really value what you have to say on, well, just about everything. What about more content on books you’re reading? Assuming you’re keeping Onions going (and it would be amazing if you do), more on books and literature would be a nice complement to food and film.
I'd say the sort of thing you don't and wouldn't be likely to write on Vox. Whether too distant from film, or too theological/spiritual, or too broad-take culture-commentary or first-personal.
I've been particularly grateful for the recommendations of recorded theatre. The Time Out (dba Time In these days) list is overwhelming and a little scattered, but it has offered some wonderful things like School Girls, What Do We Need to Talk About, etc. Especially because while I appreciate all the free options, I am happy to pay. Knowing what is worth paying for, though, feels like more of a gamble right now.
I just started to reply and think I lost that post...I signed up because of your movie and tv reviews. Being from eastern Canada, I would like to see reportage on cultural events and films that aren't too US-centred or focussed. For example, films coming out of Quebec right now: And the Birds Rained Down, or, Une Soeur. Also, links to some good investigative journalism that opens up a more international perspective, and, on non-American events might be great. (I have loved your cinema recommendations, by the way. Thank you.)
I just love your work and would appreciate reading more of your writing. Your perspective is always appreciated. Perhaps covering a topic that you don’t normally get to spend time on? Thanks for all that you do!

Seconded.

Thanks for asking...will think about it and get back to you.
Agree with the other two gentlemen. Let ‘er rip!
Let me form pieces akin to the cultural/spiritual analysis in How to Survive the Apocalypse.
