I’m primarily familiar with Dan Kois from the days when he was a cohost on Slate’s parenting podcast. I’m intrigued by this novel now! Thank you for writing about it!
Hello! I loved your article! The link to the Cloisters novel I think got redirected to the Met Cloisters link— just wanted to mention it! But I’m regardless intrigued by both novel and setting :)
Sadly, I did not finish the Secret History, in spite of my love for Classics, because I did not connect with the narrator or any of the other characters. However, have you read The Cartographers, by Peng Shepherd? It also features a dangerous clique of scholars (in this case, cartographers) in New York, and it reminded me in certain ways of The Secret History.
if you take yourself off the main drag in Beacon and head past the diner to The Beacon Daily, you’ll find an adorable little deli that has My Personal Favorite Bacon Egg & Cheese in the entire world - they make their own english muffins and the salty sweetness is unmatched by every other iteration. It’s the breakfast sandwich you deserve.
