Worth your time
This time, just some movies — ones that are out and ones that soon will be:
Kajillionaire, in select theaters and coming to digital platforms soon. I wrote about its director, Miranda July, and her eccentric affection for the weirdo in all of us.
While we’re at it, I wrote a list of great food movies, all of which you can watch at home.
On Netflix this Friday: Dick Johnson is Dead, a truly, truly great film. I could call it a “documentary” but that wouldn’t ring the right bells in most people’s heads. Here’s what I wrote from Sundance earlier this year.
Incidentally, two movies about Ruth Bader Ginsburg (I’d definitely recommend On the Basis of Sex).
Coming to limited theaters this weekend and Netflix the following week: The Forty-Year-Old Version, a sharp, charming film that throws some elbows at the (white, male) theater establishment in New York and has some pretty excellent jokes to boot. Keep an eye out.
Just for fun: Best in Show, which is on Hulu, and good especially for fans of dogs, mockumentaries, or Schitt’s Creek.
