How to fill your week with cultural event awesomeness
On Mondays I’ll be sending a few performances and livestreams of non-movie things that caught my eye; they’ll probably be heavily skewed toward theater and literature and New York cultural institutions because, well, this is my list.

National Theatre Live’s free streaming performance right now (through 7pm UK time on Thursday) is Antony & Cleopatra, starring Ralph Fiennes and Sophie Okonedo, and I can’t wait to watch it. You can watch it on YouTube. (On Thursday evening, Barber Shop Chronicles will start streaming.)
On Tuesday at 8pm ET, New York City Ballet will stream a pretty great spring-themed program including “Spring” from The Four Seasons, “Theme and Variations” from Divertimento No. 15, “Third Variation: Phlegmatic” from The Four Temperaments, Afternoon of a Faun, and “Rondo” from Western Symphony. The streams will happen on their Facebook page, YouTube channel, and homepage, and they’ll be up for three days after.
The New York Public Library is doing a read-through of Neil Gaiman’s Coraline this week, starting Tuesday at 6pm and running through the end of the week. Readers include Gaiman, LeVar Burton, Rosario Dawson, and Dakota Fanning, and how cool is that? (It’s free, but you have to register to get a link.)
I’ve been digging Random House’s “Writers Routine” event, which takes place every Thursday around lunch time on their Instagram page (the handle is @randomhouse). This week’s guest is Andrea Bartz. The following night at 8pm they’re also hosting a discussion about inequality and antiracism with Ibram X. Kendi and Mona Hanna-Attisha.
And finally, my beloved performing arts center BAM is having a “virtual gala” on Wednesday night at 8, followed by a “virtual dance party” at 8:45pm. There are some pretty awesome performers. Go take a look.
